Destiny Beautiful Bald Eagle contended in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs at the state track meet May 27-28 in Sioux Falls, as the eighth grader placed 3rd in the 3200 and 8th in the 1600. She was also part of the 1600 sprint medley relay team that competed at state.

Junior Kelsey Barrett of Britton-Hecla ran away with the 3200 title, finishing the run in 11:19.58. Halie McMains of Canton was runner-up at 11:46.92, and Destiny Beautiful Bald Eagle of C-EB placed third with a time of 12:05.99. Destiny edged Madison’s Emily Hawkes, who finished fourth with a time of 12:06.97.

Karley Konkol of Custer led the pack in the 1600 meter run, winning the state title in 5:19.63. Beautiful Bald Eagle finished the four lap run in 5:34.18 for 8th place.

The team of Beautiful Bald Eagle, D’Aryn Lends His Horse, Bryce Lawrence and Jimmi Lawrence qualified to compete in the 1600 sprint medley relay. While the team turned in a sub-5:00 time in the prelims (4:49.84) it was not enough to advance to the final heat. The C-EB girls had the 24th time in the preliminary heat, while the top 8 went on to the finals. The event was won by Clark-Willow Lake in 4:18.42.
